When asked following Saturday's scrimmage the timeline looks like for Brandon Ghee's injured wrist, head coach Marvin Lewis couldn't give a definite answer saying "I don't know" when asked if Ghee will return at some point this season. According to Lewis Ghee had his injured wrist "set" and currently "on the mend".
Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer said of Ghee:
"I feel bad for him because finally he had kind of turned the corner where he was getting to a point where he was getting involved in the mix," Zimmer said of Ghee. "He was competing all the time. He was doing a nice job in covering. He’s a good athlete, somebody that’s finally worked into it and kind of earned the right to be here and do some of those things. It’s disappointing for him. And for us, too"
Drafted in the third-round of the 2010 NFL draft, Ghee suffered an assortment of injuries throughout his career that's completely stalled his development. A preseason concussion and quad strain during his rookie season forced him on the bench during the first two games in 2010. He was eventually placed on Injured Reserve later that season with a groin injury.
Preseason injuries in 2011 forced the team to waive him during final cuts, signing him to the team's practice squad to start the season. He was eventually promoted to the 53-man roster on November 14 due to injuries in the secondary. Offseason workouts and training camp practices showed immense development for Ghee this year. Instead he may be released during final cuts missing a significant portion of the season and without a team.
