No.
Hey guys, it's week one. We had an (obviously) atrocious game. Our defense couldn't cover a receiver, nor catch an interception, nor even get a lick of pressure when it mattered and our offense sputtered and died multiple times. We looked bad on primetime TV and got our behinds handed to us by a division rival to start the season. We looked bad. We played bad. We were bad.
But, here's the kicker: it's week one. There's 15 more games to be played. That's 15 more shots to improve the record. We may be sitting at 0-1 right now. Fun fact: So are the Steelers. So are the Browns. So are the Packers, even. They're all 0-1 as well, despite the fact that two of those are also playoff teams a year ago and could still push to contend this year. Do you think they're quitting? They're saying that they're going to miss, that they have obvious problems they can't overcome? That they're getting first pick in the draft? The Ratbirds shelled the Squeelers week one too, in their own house even, and they still didn't make the Super Bowl.
I know we're at the edge. We have a lot of obvious issues. I particularly miss Kevin Coyle right now and that's strange to think about. We need to remove Maualuga in some way because he was simply awful. But we have a solution to Maualuga: Vontaze Burfict. We have a solution to a leaky secondary: Carlos Dunlap. There are answers to our problems. There's a chance for Zim and Marvin and Gruden to look at our problems and provide a way around them. We're not dead in the water yet. Our QB didn't throw four picks and even then Vick still beat the Browns. There are teams that probably wish they were us right now, somehow.
So stand away from that ledge. We looked atrocious week 1. There's still 15 more weeks to play. That's plenty of time. The Ratbirds are behind us, let's start looking ahead and take it one game at a time. The Browns are up without their best player. It's time to punch them in the gogdamn teeth.
