Bengals Player Power Rankings: Week Three

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Updating the Bengals player power rankings heading into the team's week three game against the Washington Redskins.

The Cincinnati Bengals Player Power Rankings is a weekly ranking system that not only figures the best players on the team, but the players playing the best. Despite being out of their control, injuries and inactives are huge hits largely because they're not contributing. Several offensive players made a jump again this week after putting up 34 points.

Notes

1

A.J. Green

1

--

Green probably should've had a bigger day with Haden out, but every other WR stepped up to where they didn't need Green to take over.

2

Andrew Whitworth

3

+1

Whitworth has put together two good games in a row. Watching him and Rucker go at it was fun to watch.

3

Andy Dalton

4

+1

Dalton has to hit on these deep balls eventually. This offense could put up 40 points if he does. He was almost flawless anything under 10-yards.

4

Geno Atkins

2

-2

Atkins has put together two games in a row where he hasn't been a dominating force. He needs help on the d-line and we should see a better Geno.

5

Reggie Nelson

5

--

Nelson has been one of the few steady defenders. We're now waiting for a big play from our play-making safety.

6

Andre Smith

6

--

Andre Smith continues to show improved run blocking which has been his biggest remaining flaw.

7

Mike Nugent

7

--

The teams keep calling on their kicker instead of scoring in the red zone; Nugent answers every call. Flawless so far.

8

Benjarvus Green-Ellis

8

--

This time he provided a little something in the passing game. BJGE has been a very reliable player so far. He could've/should've broken off a couple of runs but he can't seem to make that safety in the hole miss.

9

Leon Hall

9

--

Hall was in tight coverage again and very active against the run. He's getting closer to 100%.

10

Jermaine Gresham

10

--

It's becoming normal to wonder - Where has Gresham been all game? - Then he shows up at the end. What do we do with this guy?

11

Andrew Hawkins

14

+3

Hawkins is a threat every time he touches the ball... Get him the ball.

12

Carlos Dunlap

11

-1

Another missed game as his teams desperately needs a pass rusher.

13

Domata Peko

12

-1

Peko was invisible on most of his snaps.

14

Clint Boling

13

-1

Boling is setting a standard for himself and it's pretty high. He's been run to watch develop.

15

Adam Jones

NR

--

Good in coverage and game-changing punt return. His confidence is contagious.

16

Nate Clements

16

--

He missed a couple tackles but otherwise he's still a physical player in the secondary.

17

Michael Johnson

18

+1

Johnson would probably be even more effective if he could get some rest at defensive end.

18

Manny Lawson

15

-3

It's not that Lawson plays bad; it's that he only played 22-snaps and they're very forgettable snaps.

19

Kevin Zeitler

NR

--

Zeitler makes his debut at number 19 in our rankings. He's been progressing with every game since preseason. He makes four offensive lineman in the top 20 players.

20

Rey Maualuga

17

-3

This is the 2nd straight week where Maualuga has dropped three spots in the power rankings. He doesn't have much longer to get it right and start playing fast and physical.

Dropped Off List: Bernard Scott and Chris Pressley
On The Rise: Armon Binns, Jeff Faine, Vincent Rey, Terrance Newman and Jeromy Miles
