Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was a nomination for AFC Offensive Player of the Week after his performance against the Washington Redskins in week three. Dalton completed 19 of 27 passes (70.4 percent) for 328 yards passing and three touchdowns for a passer rating of 132.9.
The award ultimately went to Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who posted 233 yards rushing on 33 carries and 288 yards from scrimmage (55 yards receiving). Charles joins Hall of Famer Jim Brown as the only players in NFL history to generate at least 255 yards rushing and 50 yards receiving in the same game.
Other nominations for AFC Offensive Player of the Week includes Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes, Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew, Titans quarterback Jake Locker, Raiders running back Darren McFadden, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub and Ravens receiver Torrey Smith.
