Bengals Expected To Tab Hue Jackson As The Newest Running Backs Coach

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

After 29 years former Bengals running backs coach Jim Anderson retired. According to Joe Reedy with the Cincinnati Enquirer, Hue Jackson is expected to replace him.

According to Joe Reedy with the Cincinnati Enquirer, who cites multiple sources, Bengals assistant secondary and special teams coach Hue Jackson will become the Bengals newest running backs coach.

Jackson replaces Jim Anderson, who announced his retirement after 29 years with the Cincinnati Bengals.

"It has been a great run with the Bengals, and I’m happy to have ended it with two straight playoff teams and three in the last four years," Anderson said. "The memories will last forever, and I’m proud and grateful to have had the opportunity. It’s a new challenge for me to move on, because I love coaching, but it’s time."

There were unconfirmed discussions between the Dallas Cowboys and Jackson for an offensive position, though not necessarily as a play-caller. Jackson also interviewed for the offensive coordinator spot in Carolina earlier this month.

Jackson has some experience as a running backs coach with the Washington Redskins (2001-2002), USC (1998-99), Arizona State (1992-94), Cal State Fullerton (1990-91) and Pacific (1989).

The Bengals haven't made an announcement yet.
