Rey Maualuga Taken To Locker Room

Stay connected for news and updates

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Bengals starting middle linebacker Rey Maualuga was taken to the locker room after he left the field clutching his leg.

Rey Maualuga, the Bengals starting middle linebacker and second leading tackler, was taken to the locker room in the second quarter of the team's wildcard playoff game in Houston against the Texans. It is currently unknown what his injury is, or how bad it is, but he did leave the field under his own power.

To replace him, the Bengals will play Dan Skuta at MIKE in between Vontaze Burfict and Manny Lawson. To this point in the game, Maualuga has been worked over in the passing game as he has been repeatedly picked on after he showed the inability to cover tight end Owen Daniels or running back Arian Foster. He is in the final year of his rookie contract and most would think that if he doesn't come back into this game, he may be done in Cincinnati.

Stay tuned throughout the Bengals playoff game for updates on Maualuga's injury.
