But its funny to me the two players that were called out midway through the season about being leaders and steping up there play were also the two key players who played a big part in our loss. Rey was exposed over and over again in the middle, he's lack of ability to play in man or zone coverage has been an issue for some time now. We know what we have with him, and he is not enough to make it. Time to move on and move over Burfict and either test out Mays as an WLB (if they don't wanna give him another chance at SS) or draft one, unless Lamur shows out some more. But its time for Rey to go career year or not. He's not the special player we drafted and has been out shined by an Undrafted Rookie that everyone wrote off.
has had some what of a roller coaster yr. If your a stat guy then you look at him and think "well he's not too bad, he puts up good numbers" but if you watch him and his film you will see that he has poor foot work when faced with pressure and lacks the decision making skills to really be elite or put us over the hump. He relies on Green too much, ppl need to realize that if you take away some of the amazing catches that Green, Sanu and Gresham have made your left with a Qb who often over throws balls and misses open targets. Why because he lacks footwork and tends to force passes when he doesn't need to. We have a very decent O-line, not the best but servicable, and some of his sacks come from scrambling into pressure. We also know what we have in Dalton, a mediocre Qb at best that doesn't have the confidence enough in his arm or ability to really take chances with his throws.I'm not saying dump Andy but bring someone in to work with him, We don't need a game manager type of Qb, and we don't need an Alex Smith type offense where we have the weapons but lack the elite Qb to make the offense really pop.
This is not a kick them while there down article, I will always be a fan, I was one with Shake n Blake and Pickens and I will be one with Green and Dalton. But something needs to cahnge were getting better but were still lacking good Qb play and a running game and until we handle that we will always be that team that was good but just not good wnough. Dilfer was lucky, we don't have that type of defense. We need something to change. And Marvin Lewis was right when he shined the light on those two spots, so now what are we going to do about them.
