Philadelphia Eagles Granted Permission To Interview Bengals Coach Jay Gruden

Stay connected for news and updates

Despite having doubt surface in recent weeks, Jay Gruden remains a candidate for vacant head coaching gigs.

Published reports previously mentioned that the Philadelphia Eagles intended to interview Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden at some point this week. It was never confirmed from insiders or beat writers.

Until now.

According to Les Bowen with the Philadelphia Daily News, a source confirmed that the Bengals granted Philadelphia permission to speak with Gruden. There's no mention on when the interview will take place, though we have to imagine it's going to be soon (this week even) as teams without a head coach are accelerating their respective searches. The Arizona Cardinals also confirmed that they're interviewing Gruden this week for their respective vacancy.

Gruden was a hot offensive candidate last year but declined interviews believing he wasn't ready as well as not wanting move his family in consecutive years.
