Bengals Offensive problems are not Dalton

The beginning of the decline of the Bengals offense this year was due to a number of things but not Dalton. The lack of a consistent #2 option at WR, the inconsistencies out of our TE, and no easy passes for checkdowns. Just think of this for a moment on how easy it is to defend the Cincinnati Bengals offense. Coverage is rolled towards AJ Green and no other receivers can get off of jammed coverage. You cant be consistent having to throw perfect passes in to double coverage. During the Houston game it was noticeable that both Marvin Jones and Baby Hawk could not get off the line consistently. This is why Sanu has been missed so badly, because he can beat press coverage. Now as far as Gresham is concerned he just flat out is disappointing. Moving on to the next phase is pass protection. It is blatantly obvious that the line is not up to par with most other playoff teams. I can remember numerous times this year being amazed at how much time Peyton Manning usually has or even Matt Schaub did against our great pass rushers. Guys this makes a huge difference. During Andy Dalton's best stretch this season Trevor Robinson was playing instead of Cook. Robinson made the line better. Its no coincidence that the offense went dormant when Cook became thye starter. Go back to the first half against Houston and ask yourself did Dalton really have a chance, and compare that to what Schaub had. Dalton was being pressured on 3 step drops even. He even got hit when trying to throw in the red zone on a 3 step drop. The pressure came from Whitworth and its not acceptable on that quick of pass. Lastly there are hardly if at all any easy throws to runningbacks in this offense. I'm not even saying checdowns, but an easy pass to gain 4-5 yards to help Dalton gain momentum and get in a flow for the game, particularly when no one is afraid of our running game. When you closely look at it the problems run alot deeper than Andy Dalton in this offense. I easily see another Drew Brees type QB in Dalton and he is just now starting to get his feet wet. Its unfair to lay all blame at him
