OK. I'll start off by stating that this is not necessarily something I am advocating, but sparked my interest slightly and thought maybe it would be good banter for a good charged debate. We seem to have two schools of thought amongst our CJ family. Those who want to pick up every free agent "name" that pops up on ESPN or Sportscenter and the smaller club or conservatives that would like to continue building through the draft and keeping our cap reserves plentiful in hopes of having the ability to re-sign our own. And while it obviously still the middle of the season and this is a long way off (somebody’s gonna call me on this). I was listening to Artrell Hawkins on 1360 AM Radio this morning and he was interviewing Charles (Peanut) Tillman of the Bears, who is on the last year of his contact. When Hawkins asked Tillman if the Bengals could be a possible suitor, Tillman seemed very open to the idea. He had nothing but great things to say about our team and loved what Marvin Lewis was doing with this team. Now, most players would say the same thing when interviewed as to keep their options open and not burn bridges before they hit the open market. Irregardless (bugs you doesn't it).... The question I'm asking is. What do you guys think of this move? I have no idea what kind of contract he would demand or how much gas he has left in the tank. Does he even fit our system???? But, I love what he brings to the table in the turnover game. As good as our defense is, we haven't exactly been good at getting turnovers from other teams. At least at the secondary level (minus the Jet's game). Could he be the spark at the DB position to turn the D from a great defense to a scary as hell, call yo mamma, crap your pants, hide under the bed type defense? With the loss of Hall and question as to whether he will ever be the same (I think a legitimate question, I mean two Achilles tears???), and the other question marks in our secondary. Would it be prudent to pick up a guy like this or would the money be better spent elsewhere? Like I said, I'm not quite sure where I would stand on this one, but would be interesting to hear some debate.
