New York Jets sign former Ravens and Texans safety Ed Reed

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets, the only team with known interest after the veteran cleared waivers, announced the signing on Thursday.

For those of you hoping that Cincinnati signs aging veteran Ed Reed after he cleared waivers on Wednesday, go ahead and take the rest of the afternoon off and kick the empty can down the empty dirty road.

The New York Jets announced on Thursday that they've signed Reed.

Reed reunites with Rex Ryan, his former defensive coordinator in Baltimore.

According to reports, the Jets were the only serious party, though New England had idle interest as well.
