WHERE THE BENGALS RUN BEST

BJGE’s stats this season running behind different players...

LE – 10 rushes, 5 yards, 0 td’s, 0.5 ypc
LT – 21 rushes, 71 yards, 0 td’s,3.4 ypc
LG – 21 rushes, 82 yards, 1 td’s,3.9 ypc
C – 32 rushes, 127 yards, 1 td’s,4.0 ypc
RG – 24 rushes, 80 yards, 1 td’s,3.3 ypc
RT – 18 rushes, 53 yards, 0 td’s,2.9 ypc
RE – 5 rushes, 6 yards, 0 td’s,1.2 ypc

A majority of BJGE’s runs have been up the middle. And he has been the most effective there. With a 0.5 ypc around the left end, and 1.2 ypc around the right end, BJGE needs to stay between the tackles. Even then, he’s not doing a whole lot unless he’s rushing right up the middle. Gio’s stats this season running behind different players...

LE – 9 rushes, 48 yards, 1 td’s, 5.3 ypc
LT – 12 rushes, 45 yards, 0 td’s ,3.8 ypc
LG – 15 rushes, 56 yards, 0 td’s, 3.7 ypc
C – 12 rushes, 40 yards, 0 td’s, 3.3 ypc
RG – 22 rushes, 102 yards2, td’s, 4.6 ypc
RT – 7 rushes, 29 yards, 0 td’s, 4.1 ypc
RE - 5 rushes, 55 yards, 1 td’s, 11.0 ypc

Unlike BJGE, Gio has been spectacular around the ends with a 5.3 and 11.0 ypc around the left and right ends, respectively. But, in addition to rushing well around the end, Gio has actually been better on the plays run between the tackles too (4.0 ypc vs. 3.7 ypc on those plays). Directly up the middle, BJGE has outperformed Gio, but everywhere else, Gio has far exceeded BJGE.

Looking at the combined Gio + BJGE rushing #’s behind the different positions... >LE – 19 rushes, 53 yards, 2.8 ypc
LT – 33 rushes, 116 yards, 3.5 ypc
LG – 36 rushes, 138 yards, 3.8 ypc
C – 44 rushes, 167 yards, 3.8 ypc
RG – 46 rushes, 182 yards, 4.0 ypc
RT – 25 rushes, 82 yards, 3.3 ypc
RE – 10 rushes, 61 yards, 6.1 ypc
Unfortunately this last set of numbers is kind of an indictment against our o-linemen.
Only behind Zeitler, are the Bengals averaging at least 4.0 ypc.

They are getting 3.5 running behind Whit, 3.8 behind Boling & Cook, and only 3.3 behind Andre.
These #’s also show that the majority of the Bengals’ runs are in the middle. Almost 1/2 of their rushes have been behind Zeitler & Cook. With 17% behind Boling, 15% behind Whit, 12% behind Smith, and 14% around the left and right ends.
