Forty-one year old Jon Kitna has been brought out of retirement by the Dallas Cowboys. He'll serve as the Cowboys back up quarterback in Sunday's game versus the Eagles. Since retiring from the NFL, Jon Kitna works as a math teacher at Lincoln High School in Washington state. Kitna is also the Lincoln High School football coach.
When Tony Romo went down to an injury, Jon Kitna texted Cowboy's Head Coach Jason Garrett. Letting the head coach know, Kitna was available and willing to come if the Cowboys called. The Cowboys choose to work out three quarterbacks not named Kitna. Unhappy with the quarterback workouts and preferring Kitna's attitude, the Cowboy's gave Kitna a call. After a 30 minute conversation, the Cowboys signed their man. Jon Kitna was back in the NFL, maybe for only a sixty minute swansong this Sunday.
Kitna has always been known as a class act, that much hasn't changed, and appears it never will.
