Minnesota Vikings fire head coach Leslie Frazier

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Keeping our eye on black Monday due to the obvious implications it could have on Cincinnati's assistant coaches being candidates for future head coaching positions.

The Minnesota Vikings have fired head coach Leslie Frazier, Ian Rapoport reported on the NFL Network. Frazier had amassed a 20-23-1 record in three-plus seasons in Minnesota with one postseason appearance last year. Weeks of speculation had all pointed to Frazier's eventually firing, but the team remained silent on Sunday after a 14-13 win over the Detroit Lions.

"Basically I want to focus on that part of it because being here as our home, it's very emotional and I'm very glad we left on a good note," Wilf said. The Vikings had played their final home game at the metrodome and were commemorating its closure.

Frazier is a former Bengals defensive coordinator before Lewis took over play-calling towards the end of the '04 season -- Frazier's last in Cincinnati.

"A difficult thing transpired then, and probably more my fault than Leslie’s – actually it was all my fault more than Leslie’s, but he’s gone on to do great," Lewis said via the Cincinnati Enquirer, who admitted last week that he wasn't very supportive of Frazier. "I’m very happy for him. I can’t say enough about what he’s done and the opportunity he’s earned himself and he’s done a great job of. It’s unfortunate what happens in coaching."
