(EXCLUSIVE) NFL Films HD video: 2013 Bengals Season Recap and Playoffs Preview

The much-anticipated 2013 Bengals Season Recap and Playoffs Preview video is here, with footage exclusively from NFL Films (most of it is shot on actual 16/35mm film, with one notable exception being the brief Hard Knocks footage I used which is entirely digital) and music exclusively from NFL Films (see the video description for the song names and albums, which can be purchased on iTunes). This is a private link because it’s an unfinished product which will serve later as my 2014 Bengals Trailer. I did the best job I could of matching up the footage and music, but it was helpful that so many of the highlights fit very naturally. Also note that this was culled from a lot of footage, so many other different plays were left out as well as many of the same plays but from different camera angles, and plenty of sideline and on-field audio and locker-room audio (trust me, the Marvin postgame speeches, though well-intentioned, become very clichéd). Instead of making multiple shorter trailers like I did last year, this will be one longer trailer.

For your best viewing experience, I’d highly recommend clicking to watch in 720p or 1080p HD, and also wearing headphones or earbuds to listen to the NFL Films music and in-game audio most clearly. For avid NFL Films viewers, much of the music should be recognizable.

Here are the parts of this video:

Act I: A 5 ½ minute capsule of the entire Bengals’ season, with looks at different important moments during the season, and then also a brief look at the Bengals’ run through the playoffs. Of course, there’s no footage from the Week 17 Ravens game and the playoffs, so that’ll be added in when released. There is a gap here for the missing footage.

Act II: A look at the Bengals’ offense this regular season. Missing Week 17 footage will be added in.

Act III: A look at the Bengals’ defense this regular season. Missing Week 17 footage will be added in. Look at Chip Morton’s reaction when Wallace Gilberry roars!

Comedy Intermission: Conversation on the Bengals’ sideline with Gio Bernard wired for sound during Week 16.

Act IV: A look at a few of the ugliest moments this year, mostly in losses. I didn’t include the Atkins injury here because it’s already shown in Act I.

Act V: Pregame sights and sounds from the Week 10 Ravens game, Week 7 Lions game, and Week 3 Packers game, followed by the three most exhilarating plays of the season which happened to be in those games- the Hail Mary, the Nugent game-winner, and the Newman fumble return. Overlayed by radio calls from Dan Hoard and Dave Lapham. Also, there’s postgame audio from the Packers and Lions games. (Currently, the video ends here)

Act VI: An extended look at the Bengals’ run to the Lombardi Trophy.

Act VII: Another capsule of the entire Bengals’ season, though shorter than the first one.

I leave you with 5 words: "You want some, get some."
