The Historical Significance of the Bengals Win over the Colts on Sunday

By defeating the Indy Colts on Sunday, the Bengals moved to 9-4 on the season. The 9th win assures the Bengals of a winning season, as the worst they could do is 9-7 (and the best they could do is 12-4).
The historical significance of this victory is that only once before have the Bengals had 3 consecutive winning seasons. With the victory, they have tied their franchise record for most consecutive winning seasons.

By securing a winning season in 2013, this marks the third straight year that the Bengals have held a winning season:
2011 ... 9 – 7
2012 ... 10 – 6
2013 ... 9 – 4

The one other time the Bengals had 3 consecutive winning seasons:
1975 ... 11 - 3
1976 ... 10 – 4
1977 ... 8 – 6

.

On a side note, if you want to look at their longest streak of "non-losing seasons", this would be 6 seasons back in the 1970’s:
1972 ... 8 – 6
1973 ... 10 – 4
1974 ... 7 – 7
1975 ... 11 - 3
1976 ... 10 – 4
1977 ... 8 – 6

Congrats to the Bengals for matching the record. Now, next season we need to break it!
