Bengals And Michael Johnson Haven't Made "Much Traction" For A Deal Yet

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson is slowly becoming the favorite for the franchise tag, especially if the sides can't reach a deal before the March 4 deadline.

Though we chit-chat and debate about applying the franchise tag to either defensive end Michael Johnson or offensive tackle Andre Smith, the general hope is that the team is able to sign both players to long-term deals, setting aside any need for the tag.

However according to Albert Breer with the NFL Network, Johnson and the Bengals don't appear to be making much headway for a deal.

The Bengals have until March 4 to use the franchise tag.
