Wallace Gilberry signing a three-year deal on Sunday means that the Cincinnati Bengals won't bring Robert Geathers back. The reasoning is that Gilberry could start at left defensive end, where Geathers has started 71 games dating back to 2008. Makes sense, right?

Don't believe that for a second.

Of the 67 games Gilberry has played during his five-year NFL career, he's only started three times. Even Carlos Dunlap, who has played 38 games in the NFL, has only started twice. Considering that's five starts combined between two men with 105 career games in the NFL, it's unlikely that the team has their starting left defensive end.

That's why the Bengals remain highly interested in bringing Robert Geathers back. Writes Geoff Hobson with Bengals.com, there "is mutual interest in bringing Geathers back and there are indications talks have taken place."

Geathers agent Pat Dye told Bengals.com in late January that both sides, player and team, want to get a deal done.

Geathers, who turns 30 this August, will enter his tenth season. He'll be an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday.
