When asked last week if he'd like to play for the Cincinnati Bengals, soon-to-be free agent safety Dashon Goldson admitted that he'd be interested, largely because he knew many of the team's defensive players.
"I like those guys down there. I went to school with Reggie Nelson, played with Nate Clements, I was here with Taylor Mays and Manny Lawson so I’m familiar with some of those guys and how they play. They’ve got a good football team down there. They’re on track and they’ve got a good quarterback and receivers. I will have to consider all my options and we’ll have to see whose interested in me."
Various reports suggest that Goldson is looking for an annual salary in the neighborhood of $8 million over five seasons (that's $40 million total).
Don't hold your breath for a Cincinnati signing (you're probably not anyway).
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions and Tampa Buccaneers are the leading candidates to sign Goldson with the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles also in play.
Four teams - SF, PHIL, DET, TB - in play on Dashon Goldson - but DET, TB considered favorites. TB also in on CBs Sean Smith, B. Grimes, DRC.

Not that we really expected Goldson to join the Bengals during free agency, we can at least close this file for now.
