2013 NFL Free Agency: Reggie Bush Likely To Land In Detroit

USA TODAY Sports

According to sources, free agent running back Reggie Bush is likely to land in Detroit, where he will play for the Lions in 2013 and beyond.

Free agent running back Reggie Bush is expected to land in Detroit where he will play for the Lions in the upcoming season, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

Bush is the biggest name in free agency when it comes to the running back position as he proved over the last two seasons that he can be an every down back and carry the ball between the tackles in the NFL. While New Orleans used Bush as a specialist in certain situations, Miami used him as their main running back. However, his time in South Florida has come to an end and it appears that Detroit will likely be his new home.

While the Cardinals seem to have a greater need, given the decision to cut Beanie Wells and intention of LaRod Stephens-Howling to hit the open market, the Lions have been without a versatile tailback since Jahvid Best's career was derailed by an October 2011 concussion.

The Lions have had bad luck at the running back position and a back of Bush's abilities could get the team's running back back on track, making the Lions an even scarier team offensively.

Bush has carried the ball 967 times in his career for a total of 4,162 yards and 29 touchdowns. However, the best two years of his career came in 2011 and 2012 when he rushed for a total of 2,072 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also shown his worth as a receiver out of the backfield, catching 15 touchdown passes in his career and he has returned four punts for touchdowns as well.
