Bengals Have Already Hosted Chris "Beanie" Wells

USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals were reportedly interested at one point in Beanie Wells, which turned out to be true.

On the same posting that reported Mike Goodson's scheduled visit to Cincinnati on Wednesday, Mike Silver with Yahoo! Sports also side-noted that former Arizona Cardinals running back Chris "Beanie" Wells visited Cincinnati already on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, former Cardinals running back Beanie Wells visited the Bengals’ facility. Wells, cut by Arizona on Monday, is apparently exploring other options while Cincinnati explores the possibility of landing Goodson.

Since Wells was released prior to the start of free agency by Arizona, he's been free to sign with any team since Monday.

Wells, a former first round pick by the Arizona Cardinals during the 2009 NFL draft, hasn't really lived up to his billing. In four seasons, he's generated only one 1,000-yard performance (2011), but hasn't played a full season since 2009 due to injuries and there are general dedication questions. He was scheduled to earn $1.4 million in 2013.

On the other hand Wells has a career 4.0 yard/rush average (kind of average) and 24 career touchdowns; which is somewhat confusing considering the Bengals already have their redzone guy with BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Reports surfaced earlier on Tuesday that the Bengals were already interested -- though it's kind of funny that he was already checking out the team facilities when those reports were initially made.
