The Cincinnati Bengals were caught up in the Dashon Goldson rumor-gate, which really didn't amount to a single thing.

Let's close the final chapter on this story.

Last week former San Francisco 49ers safety Dashon Goldson admitted interest when asked directly about playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. Obviously this generated interest with most of us, part of the Cincinnati fan community. But it didn't quantify any interest from the team themselves.

On Tuesday four teams were reportedly in play to sign Goldson: The Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Reports are surfacing Wednesday that Goldson has signed a five-year deal with Tampa Bay worth $41.25 million with $22 million guaranteed.

Based on the lack of reported interest in the secondary (at this exact moment in time because this stuff is so fluid), the Bengals still appear likely to address a long-term safety solution through the NFL Draft.
