Prior to signing with the Falcons, many reporters considered Green Bay to have a lock on Jackson, even going so far as to suggest the Packers were hammering out the details on a three-year contract. The Packers have been desperate for help in their running game for several seasons, and bringing in a talented veteran like Jackson would have been a no-brainer. Unfortunately for them, and indeed the rest of the NFL, Jackson reversed course and ended up signing with Atlanta, making their already potent offense even scarier.
Earlier in the week there was a rumor floating around that the Bengals were also one of the teams vying for Jackson's services, but they never progressed to the point of bringing him in for a visit. It is unclear exactly how interested the Bengals were in Jackson, but if they were serious about signing him, then it will be the second time they have missed out on the long-time Ram after choosing to draft RB Chris Perry over Jackson in the 2004 NFL draft.
