According to Geoff Hobson with Bengals.com, the Bengals "appear" to be planning a chat with Ted Ginn's agent, presumably after contract negotiations with Andre Smith are resolved one way or the other. Ginn would primarily settle into return specialist role held by Brandon Tate last season, who in our estimation will be identified as a last-case scenario if they're unable to sign the players that they want.
During his three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Ginn only generated 33 receptions for 384 yards receiving while playing the role of return specialist with 130 career punt returns and 234 kickoff returns. The former Buckeyes receiver has also scored six touchdowns; three on punt returns and three on kickoffs.
Comparatively speaking, Brandon Tate finished last year averaging 24.8 yards per kickoff return and 8.9 yards per punt return last season. Ginn averaged 23.0 yards per kickoff return and 10.2 yards per return on punts.
