The other day I found myself going through my daily routine: wake up, hit snooze, wake up Pt. 2, and check Cincyjungle. I was glancing down the long line of posts when something caught my eye.
Helmet Rule And Green-Ellis' 3rd Down Production
What "Helmet" rule?
After a quick read, and some extra research, I was surprised with how okay I was with the new rule change, but knowing how people overreact I decided I'd hold back on sharing my opinion. (I mean the rule doesn't even take effect until you're five yards down field or outside of the tackle box! But I digress.) However, whether you agree or disagree with the creation of the rule there are other factors that need to be discussed. Such as, will this new RB rule effect WR's? What about TE's? What if A.J., Sanu, or Gresham lowered their helmets? Do they get penalized? I'm not saying it happens all the time, but if? And since WR's are almost always outside of the tackle box are the parameters the same for them, or do they change? Maybe I'm just uninformed, but I feel like these are more pressing issues than the rule being implemented out of safety concerns for RB's.
