The Bengals send tight ends coach Jonathan Hayes out to the West Coast to attend San Diego State's and Hawaii's pro days, both held in San Diego on March 19, according to NFL.com's Gil Brandt.
Some of the players that participated in the pro day from Hawaii included cornerback Mike Edwards, long snapper Luke Ingram, punter Alex Dunnachie. The players from San Diego State included offensive lineman Nik Embernate, tight end Gavin Escobar, cornerback Leon McFadden and wide receiver Brice Butler.
Edwards ran the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds, improving on his combine speed during the workouts while Ingram put up 225 pounds 24 times. Embernate ran the 40-yard dash in 5.18 seconds and put up 225 pounds 21 times while Escobar, who Hayes may have traveled to San Diego to see, ran the 40 in 4.78 and 4.81 seconds and did 12 reps of 225 on the bench press. He also impressed in position drills. Butler, who transferred top SDU from USC ran the 40 in 4.37 and also caught the ball well.
