Based on the transactions so far in free agency, here is the signing scorecard as it relates to the Bengals 2014 comp pick equation:
no qualifying players (Johnson making less than $1M and will be at best a backup which lowers his value in the comp pick equation; Pollak making less than $800k)
This means that the team is still in line to get four additional picks next year. Lawson would be worth a 6th round while the others are 7th rounders. From a draft value standpoint, the total comp picks would be worth 32 points (or pick #161). Nothing too sexy but still "free" picks.
If someone besides the Bengals is able to sign Andre Smith at $6.5M+ this offseason, that should be worth a 4th round pick given how likely it is that Smith would log nearly 1000 snaps. Keep that in mind as you think about the "do we or don't we resign him" debate.
