Alabama RB Eddie Lacy Visited Bengals Monday, Per Sources

Paul Abell-USA TODAY Sports

According to sources, Alabama running back Eddie Lacy visited the Bengals on Monday.

Former Alabama running back Eddie Lacy visited the Bengals on Monday per league sources, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy.

Lacy is considered the best running back in this year's draft class news of his visit to Cincinnati is no real surprise. Lacy ran for 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns throughout the 2012 season and helped carry the Alabama Crimson Tide to a second-straight national championship. Lacy is a bigger back, weighing in at 231 pounds, but he still has decent speed and quickness for his size and would be able to break long runs.

The Bengals are looking for a back to complement BenJarvus Green-Ellis. While Lacy sounds more like a replacement than a complement, the Bengals have said they're looking for a guy that can carry the load in the case that Green-Ellis is out. Many of the running backs in this year's draft class would be better suited for a change-of-pace back only as they would struggle carrying the ball between the tackles. Lacy doesn't fit into that category.

If the Bengals were to select Lacy, it's likely they'd have to do so with their first-round pick. While it's possible for Lacy to fall to the Bengals with their first second-round pick, there are enough teams in need of a franchise back that could see Lacy as the answer to their running game troubles.
