OK! We've herd it 20,000 times. Bengals needs are S, RB, LB, WR. That's what everyone has been saying and repeating all off season.
But lets step away from that thinking for just a moment and reflect upon the 2012 season. Why did we not win some of the games we lost ( most importantly the playoff game) Was it our weak link at safety. I don't think so. Defense was allowing about 12 points a game down stretch. Houston only scored 19.
We couldn't run left and Dalton wasn't able to get the ball to receivers. It's the offense, stupid. It wasn't that BJGE can't find a hole, there wasn't one. Since the Philly game, everybody started crowding the line and stunting and pressuring Dalton with great success.
Now with the Andre crap, we really need to focus where we stand with our offensive line. This is a deep crop of non glamour positions, and before we get all warm and fuzzy thinking about Vaccarro taking over at safety, or Gio breaking loose, let's take a hard look at what makes an offense successful.
When you can run at will against anybody and your QB can look over the field for 6 seconds or more when your throwing the ball, your going to have a fair modicum of success.
One of the biggest reasons for our defense being so highly ranked is the D-line. Imagine what our offense could be with that level of O-line.
None of you would buy my first 2 round mock. 1 Fluker, 2a Barret Jones, 2b Travis Frederick. These are guys that should be available at those picks and won't be stretches. Andy gets better, AJ gets better, BJGE gets better. Heck Bernard Scott and Dan Herron get better.
Start throwing the pitchforks at me
