Hello Cincy Jungle, long time no see.

I suddenly disappeared from just about all internet social networking this past December. It wasn’t planned, but there is a bit of a story behind it.

Most of you knew I went back to NKY when my grandmother was about to pass away, and had returned home with her still hanging on. I did finally get the call that she passed on Dec 5th. It was more just a relief that she finally let go instead of just lying there in pain.

But that phone call came the day after I “dropped off the face” of Cincy Jungle, Twitter... basically any online social activity, which a very large part of my time was spent doing. At home I would be on this site pretty much constantly, and I even used to sit at work with my personal laptop loaded up to Cincy Jungle and Twitter. And it was at work that I suddenly disappeared...

After almost 8 years in my position at the company (add another year as a temp doing tech support), I was being laid off. The owner of the company was selling the business and was “right-sizing” it for sale (which I didn’t find out for another month). It was an emotional day for myself and even my boss and other co-workers. It was a small company, about 30 - 45 employees, that took good care of said employees, and there were a lot of company functions that were attended by most of the employees. It was more than a job, it was like an extended family... especially after almost 9 years there.

I went back to my desk to clean it out, and just hit the power button on the laptop without saying anything to anyone. I was devastated. I didn’t know what to do. I hadn’t had to worry about employment, being able to pay my bills, etc, etc for a long time. If the company weren’t being sold, I have no doubt that I would still be working there as the sales/provisioning coordinator. And the worst part... I still liked my job after so long. Days didn’t drag by. I didn’t dread Mondays (well of course I would rather stay at home or do something else besides go to work, but you know what I mean). I now had to start looking for new employment and, oi vey... had to move in the mother-in-law.

So I cut out a lot of things that made me emotional, and talking about Bengals is one of those things. I still watched. I still brought Cincy Jungle up on my phone to keep a bit up to date. I mean, I was also busy looking for employment, learning how much “job searching” has changed in the past almost 10 years, and updating my side of things to meet with the times. However, I was pretty stressed and wanted to help reduce that stress for a time. So I picked up a hobby that doesn’t take up a ton of my time, but also is calming and relaxing... at least to me. I’m keeping freshwater aquariums now.

I’ve got 3 so far... a 55 gallon, and two 10 gallons. Just recently picked up the 2nd 10 gallon because a pair of my fish had spawned and I thought I was going to need a fry tank. But none of the eggs hatched this time around.

I’ve recently been accepted into a software development state-side outsourcing company’s training program. That takes most of my time now. I go to “class” 5 days a week 9am - 4pm, and spend a lot of my time at home studying or working on my projects from class. After completing the program, I am guaranteed to be hired by the company, while agreeing to stay with the company for at least 2 yrs.

Oh and I saw that fan post about first-pick and did a draft... I made a couple trades... one was a trade down, but then I traded up just to get rid of some of the picks I had. I’ll probably do another draft here before the real draft starts, but I think I could live with the one I did already...

All the re-signings and few signings that have been made, especially the Harrison signing! Also very excited about seeing Who Dey Fans joining CJ!!!
