With the number seventeen pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers have selected Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones. After losing outside linebacker James Harrison to the Bengals just prior to the draft, the Steelers had a major need at the position and Jones provides a younger and cheaper option for a team snug against the cap.
Jones had brief medical scare earlier at the combine concerning stenosis, but received a clean bill of health ahead of the draft. He has great size for the position and fits extremely well in the Steelers 3-4 defense, but there are still some concerns about his speed after running a mediocre 40-yard dash.
