With the number twenty-three pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings have selected Florida defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd. A highly regarded prospect, Floyd was ranked as highly as the number two player on some team boards, but character concerns and lack of production forced him into the bottom of the first round. At the twenty-three spot, Floyd simply represented too much value for the Vikings to pass up.
Floyd now goes to a highly decorated defensive line, led by Kevin Williams and Jared Allen. The Vikings still have one more first-round pick left, and after filling their need on defense they will likely choose a wide receiver.
