With the No. 12 overall pick in the 2013 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, EZoellner selected for the Miami Dolphins, and with the 12th overall pick in the 2013 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...
Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU
From EZoellner:
The Dolphins have arguably been the busiest team this off season so far. They've signed WR's Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson, TE Dustin Keller, LB's Phillip Wheeler and Dannell Ellerbe, CB Brent Grimes, G Lance Louis and DT Vaughn Martin. They lost CB Sean Smith, RB Reggie Bush and OT Jake Long. They have added weapons around Tannehill now they need to protect him but with none of the top 3 OT's available I look to the defensive side of the ball. Being in the same division as the Patriots, the Dolphins need to be able to rush the passer and defend the pass.
So with the 12th pick I have the Dolphins taking a guy who can get to the passer in DE/OLB Barkevious "KeKe" Mingo. I take Mingo with the thought that they can pick up a CB and OT of better value with their two second round picks. Mingo is seen as a long lanky athlete who has yet to reach his potential, a-la Jason Pierre-Paul. Former Bengals DB coach, now Dolphins DC Kevin Coyle has stated many times he wants his defense to be versatile, meaning being able to play the 3-4 and 4-3. Adding Mingo as a 4-3 end on passing downs and a 3-4 OLB adds a lot of versatility to their front 7 but most of all brings a needed pass rusher opposite Cameron Wake. This move will allow Odrick to move inside on pass downs making for a more viable pass rush all around. With all that said about the pass rush, Mingo is underrated in his ability to set the edge and by using his length he has a great ability of keeping larger linemen from getting into his body.
Other possibilities at this point would be CB Xavier Rhodes, DE Bjoern Werner, G Jonathan Cooper and DT Star Lotulelei.
