I recently responded to a Fanpost that proposed the idea of selecting WR DeWayne Peace in the 7th round of the Supplemental Draft with the facetious answer that I'd be more in favor of signing NBA player Metta World Peace and converting him to a TE.
Turns out I wasn't so far off the mark, as World Peace tweeted recently that he's joining the NHL's L.A. Kings (don't think he was serious though)! Considering how far under the 2013 salary cap the Bengals remain why not sign him to a vet minimum contract? Don't worry about any deficiency in receiving or blocking skills. I could care less about that. No, I'm trying to think like Mike Brown and I can hear those coins jangling and smell the fresh scent of fantastic marketing opportunities. Like have Mr. World Peace don a new jersey every practice and auction them off to the highest bidders in the Pro Shop. Like make him change jerseys after every play during the pre-season so they'll be more game-worn ones to sell. Who wouldn't pay dearly to have a Bengals jersey that says "World Peace" on the back?
The marketing possibilities are endless: "World Peace night" at Paul Brown stadium, a "Make a Donation to World Peace" button on Bengals.com, advertising autograph signings with slogans like "World Peace Appearing at Fountain Square'. Need I go on or do you see what a gravy train this could be?
Let's get it done, Mikey! If the fans in Cincinnati can't enjoy a Super Bowl during your reign, then at least give them World Peace!
