Lewis: Green has a knee bruise and will be out at least three days

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green confirmed that he had no structural damage during an MRI. Lewis called it a knee bruise and will be out at least three days. Rest and patience appear to be the biggest treatment options.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green met with reporters on Friday to discuss, as you can imagine, the injury that he suffered during Thursday's practice. As was reported on Friday, an MRI showed no structural damage in his knee, comparing it to hyperextended knee that he suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers during his rookie season. He sat out the rest of that game and the following week; roughly ten days.

Green wasn't able to give a time table for an eventual return on the field, but he figures that rest will be the best treatment option.

One positive out of this is that Cincinnati will get a better look at other receivers vying for a spot towards the bottom of the roster, like a Cobi Hamilton, Ryan Whalen, and others that figure to compete for work in the limited time frame that players practice on the field.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis called the injury a knee bruise (internally and externally within the knee) during his presser at noon, describing it as "minor", and that he'll be out at least three days.
