I called off work and decided to have a few beverages and wanted to write a few thoughts.
I love Andrew Hawkins, I think he is everything this team should look for in a player.
First on the field, he is a stud, I just don't think he was utilized effectively last year. I know Gruden knows more about football than I ever will. However, Hawkins is 5'8" and it seemed like most of his routes last year were over ten yards deep. I would love to see screens, 5 yards crossing routes, and wheel routes. We all know how dangerous Baby Hawk is in open space. I would love to see Hawk out of the back field 3-5 plays a game. When he has the ball in his hands his legs are always moving. He reminds me of a much faster Housh, it seems like it takes 2-3 guys to take him down and he always falls forwards. He isn't a great blocker, but he makes the effort and does decent. He is also a special teams stud.
Off the field he does so much charity/community work, it seems like once a month I read about him helping out with a charity or putting on a youth camp. He seems very modest and humble and I would love for them to lock him up. I never worry about waking up and reading about him being arrested or doing anything dumb. I think he is a great team player and could be signed cheap. I'm think 3 years 4 million with 1 million guaranteed.
I love everything I am hearing this summer except the Green in jury, luckily it wasn't too bad. Let's stay injury free.
I still really want to see Moch make this team. He is close to as fast as Hawkins, but 5 inches taller and from what I hear 50 pounds heavier. (230)
Vontaze seems like he is taking that next step to improve and has a great attitude. He also sounds like the guy that will be getting under the other teams skin like in Bmore.
Gio sounds like the real deal, I hope he doesn't pull a Irons or Perry on us.
This offense should be great, it seems like everyone is so versatile and most people are inter changeable. I, like most people, have so many personal packages that I would love to see on the field at the same time.
This is probably just wishful thinking; but I see MJ93 singing a team friendly contact next year. He seems like he likes this team and wants to be here.
It seems like Iloka could be a stud this year, and I hope he or Mays emerges. I am a Mays supporter. I am also skeptical about the Williams pick, but Marvin and co. have been killing it lately, so I try not to be to skeptical.
I am so excited about this year, it kind of scares me. Anytime I have high expectations it seems like I am always disappointed.
Finally, I really hope if Maualuga underperforms in summer, the team will move on from him. It seems like there is so much talent in the LB's, they just need time to develop. I would hate to see them stick with Maualuga just because they gave him a decent contract and don't want to admit they made a mistake.
Who Dey, it is going to be a great year.
