The Steelers recently lost rookie running back Le'Veon Bell to a mid-foot sprain for at least the next six weeks. The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a 2012 season with one of the worst defenses in the league. The two teams decided it was best for both sides to swap some players that can help with their deficiencies.

Felix Jones, drafted in the first round of the 2008 draft by the Dallas Cowboys, was on the roster bubble in Philadelphia. Pittsburgh could afford to trade second-year linebacker Adrian Robinson in order to bolster their backfield that currently consists of Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman, and LaRod Stephens-Howling. It's difficult to say how much of a role Jones will take on in Pittsburgh, but the Steelers are clearly looking for more depth at the position as Bell was expected to carry the larger workload before his injury.
In his five seasons with Dallas, Jones has a career 2,728 rushing yards on 569 carries along with 11 touchdowns. He also has 127 receptions for 1,062 yards and 3 touchdowns.
