Though I am more optimistic than others regarding this injury I have thought of some possible replacements. Mind you I believe that he is back for the Patriots game October 6th and someone is cut and then signed to the practice squad. However, Here are the possible replacements for Lamur in nickel situations:
1) Kirckpatrick. Lamur's main contribution to this defense is that he can cover TE and RB's out of the backfield and is not necessarily asked to stop the run in those situations. For that Kirkpatrick has the height and coverage ability to fill in on this role. It would be somewhat unconventional to have a CB play LB in a nickel defense but could help with coverage ability.
2) Dontay Moch- Moch was a former safety linebacker and now rush specialist. He has the athletic ability and at least some understanding of coverage to be able to cover who needs to as well as the ability to rush off edge in blitzes designed for the nickel scenario
3.) George Iloka. This is stretching it, but if we were to put kirkpatrick in at safety on nickel situations and then move iloka into a LB role in passing situations, we almost would not lose too much of an advantage.
4) lastly Jason Dimanche could be a good idea. He is athletically gifted and hungry to prove his worth. However, he is just a rookie and one that we do not really know what we have yet.
I think all of this is temporary as Lamur I believe will be back relatively soon and with no hitches or glitches in his game. However, I want to know what you guys think will be the best option
