QB (2): Andy Dalton, Josh Johnson
I feel a lot better about our backup QB situation after last night. Skelton probably has the better arm, but I like Johnson's mobility and his short pass accuracy.
Gio will probably play most of this season as our 3rd down back. I like his speed and vision, but his pass pro is quite poor because of his size and he gets taken down quite easily. Burkhead is a really tough runner and he could develop into our feature back down the line. Peerman excels on ST.
FB (1): Orson Charles (PUP: Chris Pressley)
Pressley will probably start the season on PUP, resulting in Charles beginning the year as the starting fullback.
I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of two tight end sets this year. Smith is a solid blocker.
AJ, Sanu and Jones are all locks. Tate stays as a KR and a solid, but not spectular, pass-catcher. I like Hamilton's size and speed, he could be the future opposite of AJ. Dane Sanzenbacher takes the place of Hawk as a shifty slot guy until he returns to health, and he can also share the load returning punts with Pacman instead of Tate.
I thought both backup tackles had solid performances against Atlanta. Fragel will replace Roland next year.
Hawkinson's versatility secures him a spot on the final roster.
Both centers played poorly last night, but I expect Cook to win the starting job. This is one of our weakest areas on the team.
Hunt was a monster last night. I'd love to see him in on the action on a few 3rd and longs this season.
Devon Still was one of the best players on the field last night. I'd like to see him take a few snaps off of Peko during the season and see what he can do .
Granted it was against backups, but Schaffer is a tackling machine. I see him having a similiar role to Vinny Rey's in years past, a solid special teamer, and playing the occasional drive at MLB. Dimanche is a really nice pass rusher with huge upside.
I'm really excited about Dre this season. I think he will eventually replace Newman as the starting corner opposite Hall. Jones was quite poor last night but I'm not worried. Ghee beats out Prater to the #5 spot.
I was very happy with Iloka last night and firmly believe he is our starting strong safety. Williams struggled a bit, but it wasn't bad for his first game. Mays sucks.
Sharp played well against Atlanta but the job is Nugent's.
