It seems quite obvious that we're jonesing for a LB. I figured that I'd look at 4-3 teams' current Practice Squad rosters to see who might have a guy who can play WILL. Here are a few interesting candidates:
* Tennessee Titans: Johnathan Willard, 6' 2", 231; in HS was 4-time state champion in wrestling and ran 100 meters in track; listed as WLB; led Clemson in tackles as Sr. in 2012 but went undrafted; famous this summer for pulling family out of a burning car on I-40 on his way to Titans training camp
I kinda like this Franklin guy but really don't know what the tape reveals. One thing is for sure: the LB position in the league is really thin right now with a paucity of 4-3 OLB's on Practice Squads at present.
I looked at the ESPN Free Agent tracker for other guys who need teams. The cupboard seems pretty bare. I didn't see any Dhani Jones out there. Keith Brookings is a FA, but he's 37 years old. Quincy Black is a FA but was cut by Tampa in March after failing a physical subsequent to a neck injury in 2012.
