Now that we are 3 weeks into the NFL season, I’d have thought all those "Kaepernick is better than Dalton" posts would have continued, since we’d have 3 games of data to back up this opinion that is held so strongly by some here at Cincy Jungle.
Looking at the schedules, so far this season Kaep has faced 1 very good defense (SEA), while Dalton has faced 2 very good defenses (CHI & PIT).They have also had 2 home games this year. So their competition has been somewhat even, with an edge in difficulty to Dalton.
So if Kaep is really the better QB, and has had a slightly easier schedule, then clearly Kaep will have produced better #’s, right? Well, let’s take a look and see how well Kaep has dominated Dalton so far this season...
67% ... Dalton (71 – 106)
56% ... Kaep (53-94)
797 ... Dalton
689 ... Kaep
TD – INT
Dalton ... 5 – 3
Kaep ... 3 – 4
Dalton ... 93.2
Kaep ... 72.5
So, let’s see...
Dalton has a huge advantage on completion percentage
Dalton has over 100 more passing yards
Dalton has more yards per attempt
Dalton has 2 more TD’s
Dalton has 1 less INT
Dalton has a much better QB Rating
Oh, and Dalton is 2 - 1, while Kaep is 1 - 2 on a team that is predicted to be great
I suppose this is about the part of the post I’m supposed to say something about how Dalton brings no fear, while Kaep clearly does. Or some such nonsense...
