People need to calm down about the secondary. Here is why...

Leon Hall is not that old, hes only 28. And i see him being a Bengal for life. The guy loves it here, and is a leader on and off the field. Hes an elite CB, yeah i said it. ELITE. The guy is consistent at coverage, and is clutch at making plays when we need them the most. I mean i don't have to say much about Leon.

Adam Jones is only 29, which isn't old neither. Yes he is a trouble maker, but the level of trouble has came down a lot compared to his past. Look around the NFL, there are WAY worse crimes being done. I mean come on... you don't see our players going to rehab....(cough cough 49ers) or murdering human beings. If the kid can stay trouble free, he is one of our most consistent CB's. The guy can keep up with the fastest WR's in the league, that's awesome to have. He sometimes has ignorant PI's in the worst times, but for the most part Adam is a good CB, not great, but he makes a good #2/#3 CB on just about any team in the league.

Terrence Newman is old, sitting at the age of 35. He is still serviceable as of today, but next year he might play a smaller role if we keep him. I keep thinking Newman is gonna slow down, but for crying out loud he proves me wrong every time...the guy is a beast. He isn't a probowler anymore, but he fits the scheme so well and makes game changing plays. You can't complain.

Dre Kirkpatrick is a player most of us are confused about. Some of us want him to get more playing time before being judged, which is fair. Some of us are already labeling him a bust, which is fair to some extent, hes showing signs of injury prone, and poor technique. Will he ever be a starter for us? Time will tell. But the potential is there, and we need to be patient before we label him anything in my opinion. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but we should just give it some more time.

Reggie Nelson is only 30, and hes a beast at FS, who also moves to SS only certain plays. Hes a consistent player, who shows up every game. You know what you are gonna get from him. He may not be a Ed Reed, but hes a top 10 FS in this league, can't complain there.

George Iloka is having a nice consistent season so far in 3 games. For someone on there first year starting, hes is pretty damn impressive if you ask me. Hes been more then solid in pass coverage so far, and that's awesome. He was good at that at Boise St., so its nice to see him do it in the NFL. His run defense has been a little questionable though, im not too sure if thats because of the hand issue from training camp or just technique issues. But im sure he can improve on it, hes only 3 games in so far.

I think we are in a good position for years to come in our secondary. I expect us to draft a CB early in the draft, just because we tend to do that anyways, and we need more depth there. And bring in free agents.

Barring any injuries, our secondary is really solid. Teams around the league would kill for our secondary, besides Seahawks and maybe a few others.

Moral of this post is.....the secondary is fine, stop worrying : )
