I say why not approach the Browns' clueless new ownership and offer them a 1st round pick for Joe Haden? He may be one of the best cover corners in the league right now but that doesn't mean he figures in the new Browns' regime's "plans" for the future. After all, they dealt Trent Richardson because they felt he didn't fit their system. Maybe they're planning to play Tampa 2 and don't want an elite cover corner? The Bengals need a shut-down corner. Maybe not this year, since they have Hall and Newman and just need better depth at the position, but both starters are on the bad side of 30 (or 35 as the case may be) and should be slowing down soon. The Brandon Ghee experiment has failed miserably and Kirkpatrick looks like he'll never be anything more than a slot corner (or permanent addition to the gameday inactives list). If Cleveland isn't interested in trading him for a first round pick (which should be late first round so long as the team doesn't underachieve), another option would be to trade Michael Johnson even up (if the ownership feels they won't be able to sign him without breaking the bank next year, which is the direction things seem to be trending). Heck, since the new Browns' regime seems intent on mortgaging this season for the future, why not offer them a 1st rounder in the 2015 draft? Or maybe the 2025 one? While we're at it, maybe they can throw Josh Gordon in for a 2031 2nd rounder? That would buy the current regime another 18 years of empty promises!
