To stoke the fire a little more, Boomer Esiason is asked about and responds to Lawrence Taylor's response to Boomer's comments... Huh?
The other day I brought you the story of Lawrence Taylor's profanity laden rant about seeing Esiason rip him in a Showtime (CBS affiliate) documentary. To refresh your mind, Taylor was quoted with the following:
"What the hell you got Boomer Esiason on something that - a piece you do of me? We can't stand each other, he don't know a f-k about me. What the hell's he doing on it?" First of all, Boomer's a dickhead," Taylor continued. "Hey, listen. I remember when he was there running the streets, screwing all kind of hoes. Don't give me that holier than thou sh-t. I don't wanna hear that sh-t. . . . He gets off on it. He's still talking about me. I ain't talking about him."
On Wednesday Esiason responded (full audio here):
"Never did I think I would see (d-head) actually next to my name in a newspaper, but that's just the way it works - the swings and arrows that we all have to endure in the business in which we work," Esiason said. "I've been down this road 10 years ago, and I'm down it again. It's unfortunate."
Boomer continued by saying he doesn't hate Taylor:
"The only thing about where LT is wrong is I don't hate LT. He may think I hate him. I don't hate him. And what I do hate, is I hate the fact that he wrote the book, and he basically trashed the Giants, Parcells, Belichick and everything else."
In the end, Boomer stood by what he said even throwing in a Stanley Wilson reference:
"I don't back down on anything that I said," Esiason said. "I tried to be as understanding and as supportive of the addictions that he had, and recognize - because of my time with Stanley Wilson in Cincinnati - that people in that situation aren't who they really are. They just aren't. They're taken over by the drug."
This probably is not the last of this argument.
