I was shocked initially when I saw John Connor was cut and quite frankly, not because of Orson but rather because we kept Alex Smith. Then I got to thining, how much does Chris Pressley factor into the release of Connor. I think that Orson is still a project, a project that adds versatility as well as depth. I believe IMHO that Connor would have played 10-15 less snaps than Orson would because of the versatility that Gruden's WCO likes to incorporate. That being said, I think that the Bengals kept Orson over Connor because of Chris Pressley being readily available from the PUP list come week 6. This will give our coaches 6 more weeks to experiment with the Orson as an H-Back and see where our run games goes. If by week 6 or 7 Orson has not progressed and our running game needs an infusion, we have Pressley coming off PUP ready to go, and can then make decisions based on 6 more weeks of evaluations so to speak.
Now I am not saying that we experiment and lose games, I am saying that with Pressley being on the PUP we had options when it came to the H-Back and FB roles.
