Thing are going to change in Cincinnati, maybe not right away, but before the NFL season officially starts, changes will be made. Owner Mike Brown recently stated in a very public forum that he was in favor and preferred drafting QB Colin Kaepernick in the 2011 draft. This is a strong public display of his lack of confidence in Any Dalton, and his lack of confidence in Jay Gruden. The article also stated that the only reason why Andy Dalton was brought to Cincinnati was because Jay Gruden believed that Andy was the guy. Mike Brown is obviously trying to distance himself from this decision, and shows he’s not committed.
Jay Gruden is on the hot seat, secretly him and Mike brown are hoping that he get hired as a Head Coach somewhere in the NFL, because if not Gruden will most likely be given his walking papers sooner than later. Mike Brown is running out of time, he wants a Super Bowl before he’s done, and he’s been around long enough to know that it only happens with a franchise QB at the helm.
Where do we go from here? Mike Brown is still convinced that Marvin Lewis is beneficial to the organization (and that he is). Marvin has put together some amazing draft classes in his time here, and he is capable to lead this team to a Super Bowl. Mike Brown will not cut Andy Dalton, but he will force the issue on drafting a QB with a top pick, and that means Gruden will be gone one way or another. I foresee Hue being moved to OC and drafting a QB early, Dalton remains the starter till he develops, and no matter how much complaining Marvin does, he will bend to the demands of Mike Brown, why, because he knows how close we really are at getting the championship.
