It’s on US - SB Nation mixing politics with sports?

OK, so you’ve probably noticed the new (temporary?) logo on Cincy Jungle (and any other SB Nation site) which at first looks like Cincy Jungle was bought out by US Bank.

But in reality, Cincy Jungle is not sporting the US Bank logo. Rather this logo is the logo for the new "It’s on us" initiative, which has been launched by President Obama and the White House.

The logo change raises an interesting question, regarding the mixing of Sports and Politics/Government on SB Nation.

One can argue this the initiative covers an important issue. And it may be, but there are many other important issues? And one may argue that the initiative may not be directly partisan, but ultimately the initiative comes from a politician (the President), and a branch of government which is run by that politician (Executive). Therefore, this seems to give this initiative a political nature..

Throughout the years we’ve all seen fanposts and comments pop up, which have had a political tone. Sometimes they are squashed quickly, and sometimes they lead to long, intense discussions between various Cincy Jungle followers. And often, we are reminded that the purpose of Cincy Jungle is to talk about the Bengals.

So, while we as individuals are reminded to keep the blog to sports and sports related subject matter. The folks behind SB Nation seem to have taken the opposite stand with their wholesale support for the President’s initiative.

So I guess the question is whether SB Nation’s decision to seemingly violate their own "no politics" policy opens the door for all of us to now do the same? Or is more an occurrence of setting a different set of rules for those who run SB Nation than what they want imposed upon the rest of us?
