NFL Free Agency Rumors and Transactions

Charles Woodson retiring, D'Qwell Jackson visits and more in the latest NFL rumors and transactions.

After playing with the Raiders for one season, Charles Woodson could be ready to retire this offseason.

Woodson signed with the Raiders last offseason and played both safety spots for them last year after playing cornerback for the majority of his career. He finished with 97 tackles, two sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles and two fumbles recoveries, one of which was returned for a 25-yard touchdown. It was his 13th career defensive score, tying him with Rod Woodson and Darren Sharper for most in NFL history.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cardinals have reached out to free agent middle linebacker D'Qwell Jackson.

Arizona is trying to arrange a visit for next week. Jackson already has visits scheduled in Tennessee on Friday and Denver on Monday. In other words, it looks like Jackson could very well have a new team before the start of free agency on March 11.

Ravens receiver Deonte Thompson won't be facing felony charges in his marijuana case.

Thompson was originally facing a felony possession charge, but it's been reduced to a misdemeanor. The third-year receiver needs to have a great training camp--if he makes it that far--to warrant another chance to crack the Ravens receiving rotation in 2014.

The Jets are trying to sign right tackle Austin Howard to a long-term extension before March 11, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

He figures to land a deal somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 million to $7 million per year if he hits the open market. He finished the2013 season with a respectable -1.0 grade from Pro Football Focus.

With the 2014 salary cap now projected to be in the $132-133 million range, ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert put together a 32-team chart that provides a snapshot of where each team stands. The Bengals sit at $29,362,957 of available cap space based on his projections.
