You want to win?
Then do what the Seahawks did...
Put a healthy team on the field during the playoffs with none of your elite players injured for the most important time of the season.
The Seahawks lost 4 players to season ending IR this year:
Chandler Fenner, Anthony McCoy, Sidney Rice & Spencer Ware.
All they lost was 1 starter - a medicore) Wide Receiver.
And they lost a backup Tight End, a backup Corner Back, and a deep backup at Running Back.
Compare that to the Bengals who lost twelve on season ending IR:
Geno Atkins, Larry Black, Clint Boling, Robert Geathers, Leon Hall, Kevin Huber, Brandon Joiner, Emmanuel Lamur, Taylor Mays, Sean Porter, Alex Smith, Devin Still
So an elite, All-Pro Defensive Tackle.
A very good starting Corner Back.
A very good Punter.
A good starting Left Guard.
Plus a pile of other key contributors.
Just imagine if the Seahawks had been as unlucky as the Bengals in the injury department.
At playoff time, remove their top two starting DB’s, their top D-Lineman, one of their O-Linemen, etc..., etc... and let’s see if they still win the Super Bowl
And conversely, bless the Bengals with a few injuries as the Seahawks, and let’s see what the Bengals do in the playoffs?
Two of the most important factors in winning football games – Turnovers and Injuries.
And Seattle had both of these working for them.
Seattle led the league in Turnover differential, and Seattle led the league in fewest key players injured at the end of the season. And the result was a Super Bowl victory.
