Cincinnati Bengals attend Kentucky Wildcats Pro Day

The Bengals didn't have to travel far to attend the Wildcats pro day.

The Cincinnati Bengals had to drive a little over an hour to attend the Kentucky Wildcats pro day on Friday, and while there aren't any big-name prospects, there is one player who will probably be on someone;s 53-man roster next year.

That's middle linebacker Avery Williamson. The all-SEC performer finished this past season as UK’s leading tackler for the second consecutive year, posting 102 total tackles to rank tied for fourth in the SEC in that category. The senior also had four tackles for loss, one sack, three quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries.

He finished his career with 296 total tackles. Williamson, who played in 49 career games with 24 starts, had double-digit tackles in four games in 2013 and ended his career with 12 double-digit tackle games.

At the NFL combine, he ran an official 4.66 40, had a 30.5 inch vertical, 120 inch broad, 7.11 in the 3-cone and was a top performer in the 20 yard shuttle running 4.07.

As of now, CBS Sports has him ranked eighth at inside linebacker and a sixth-round if he’s drafted late or not even drafted at all, looking at the success of Wesley Woodyardwho went from going undrafted to signing a 4-year, $16 million deal with the Titans. Danny Trevathan was also a recent UK linebacker who rose from being a 6th-round pick to being an impact player on a team that just played in the Super Bowl.

In other words, linebackers getting overlooked in the draft isn’t a death sentence for their NFL career. Vontaze Burfict can also attribute to that.

As for other players to watch for, Mister Cobble is a good nose tackle who will at least be on someone's practice squad next year. Donte Rumph is a 3-tech defensive tackle who will also fight for a roster spot.

Offensive guard Kevin Mitchell is also a quality player who could latch onto someone's practice squad.
